[Dan Feng goes easy into Sett's bulk, burying his face into the fur at his collarbone. He can't actually tell which way is up, with how lightheaded he is, and his head lolls back as he lifts a hand to try and clumsily pet at Sett's muzzle.]
's she back yet? [The smell of blood is thick in the air, underscored by the sweet, overripe scent of Dan Feng's healing magic, trying and failing to close over whatever Sett has left of his tail, on account of, you know, going into shock.] Go look.
[ That jolts him out of that odd little euphoric mood that comes when a suffering ceases.VAL. It shocks through him, heart racing, clutching Dan Feng a little closer-
And then realizing the weak loll of the man's head-
He's been in enough fights to know what shock looks like. ]
SHIT. No, hang on.
[His hands are too sharp and too clumsy to stop the bleeding, but after a fumbling attempt, there's shadow slithering up around it and constricting.]
[ their side heads have their mouths closed and their eyes have grown dim. their center head has its mouth closed and yet it still talks, gold smoke expelled from its 'nostrils'. ] What's going on here? What have you two been doing?
[ their side heads speak in unison, ] D̵o̶ ̸n̵o̴t̸ ̷l̵i̴e̶ ̸t̷o̶ ̸u̶s̴.̸ [ said to dan feng specifically. ]
[ vastella looks sett over to, but he asked about dan feng first so that takes priority. ] Let me have a look at him and then we will talk more about this deer lady and your own injuries. [ she scruffs dan feng and lifts him up and away from sett. ] Tell me of your ailments. [ but she's looking at his tail. does it look eaten? is it mangled?? ] What did he do to you? And I want the truth.
[YOU CAN'T SCRUFF MIETTE LIKE THIS. THIS IS SO UNDIGNIFIED
Dan Feng's face twists ugly with annoyance for a moment, baring his fangs, and he visibly struggles to contain himself - but this is kind of hard when you've lost as much blood as he has. He'd conjured a second tail with his Gluttony abilities, but that tail is little more than a foot-long affair of mangled muscle and scale and bone, compared the his original one, which is a little less than four feet.
It's not a neat injury. It's visceral gore and sinew and weakly pumping arterial blood. The ragged edges of it are dripping with a sickly-sweet magic, of Dan Feng trying to regenerate it, but he's just succeeding with draining himself further.]
[ HE WAS NOT EXPECTING THE 'NOT HIS FAULT.' He REALLY wants to argue that but he takes one look at their skulls and just continues sitting where he is. ]
[ for this... vastella has to channel a lot of their healing capability. sett has seen it before - a halo and a golden glow - but this time a faint visual of their own moth wings appear and the halo is much larger and more intricate. even the glow is much brighter, almost blinding. dan feng will find his tail slowly but surely regenerating... he'll feel a pleasant warmth spread throughout the appendage as it forms, but the shock comes all at once, like a swift kick in the ass, and then all three heads are glaring at him. ]
[ and then they turn to sett. ] Why did you need to feed on him? You mentioned a deer woman. Explain.
[There's a visceral relief at watching Danny get pulled back from, probably quite literally, the brink of death.
Setts ears pin down further. Somehow.]
I ran across her when I was... [The fur over Sett's brow furrows as he realizes he doesn't KNOW. He rubs at his muzzle and then shakes the thought out. Not important.] All I remember is her eyes. They were glowin' and then I think I saw her memories?
She an' her bro drown, and she woke up somewhere like some fucked up research place or lab. Dunno, there was a lot of blood. But she came out wrong. And hungry.
And then... then I was too. At first it was so bad I couldn't think. I didn't even know my own name, man.
... [ for a moment vastella looks thoughtful. research lab. ] If the deer woman that you encountered is the same deer woman I encountered in the strange place I took a group of Acedia from, then she is incredibly powerful. I had my little moths leave, so I could try to keep her at bay. Even without her powers she is strong. You wouldn't think so with her decrepit physique.
[ but it's interesting that he managed to see into her mind... her memories... ]
It sounds like she possessed you to an extent. [ but why. she's capable of hunting. ] Who did you kill, how many, ...and did your hunger not recede after the murders? Or was Dan Feng just eager to be mutilated? [ FUCKEN EYES HIM. ]
[ dan feng should be fine riding that warm high for a moment, because vastella is approaching sett. ] Who else then? [ all three heads speak in unison. ] Ẁ̵̫̪̈̊̾̐̿̏͗͂̌͂̉ẖ̸̛͉̭͚̳̎̈́́̌͗̐̅̐̔͘̚͘͜͝͝ờ̶̭̬̻͇̯̈́̑̀͑͑͐͋̔̉̉̉̆̎͑͋ ̶̢̰̝̲̜̮̰͍̻̘̝̆̓͂͛̉́̏̈́̽̉̉͘͠͝ͅé̸̘͕̙̬̘͙͍̖̤͍͈̳̖̍̊͌̀̈͒̆͛̋͘̕͠ͅḽ̸̢̨̞̜̝̺̿͑͊͆̕͜͝s̶̢̼̩̮̳͍̩̰̹̣̟͛̅̀̀͗́̋͌̅͊̐̅̌̊ȩ̸̬̟̼̠̖̬͍͉̻͊̈́̈́͊̂͛̌͘͝ ̷̢̽̎̉̃t̶͓̱̤̤͎͚̮͌̒̃͗̋͌͋̔̐̾̓͂͝͝͝͝h̴̡̛̬͖́̆̀̄̈́͂̊̇̑̏͛̉̃́͝͝ḛ̴̛̛̗̭͈͚̼̹̗̙͕̟̜́̿͊̅͗̾̒͒̈́͆̈́̎͛̿͘͜ṋ̷̛͍̘̰̳̠̣͔̹̌̈́̀̿͊̕̚͜͝?̸̲̀̅͐͋͗̀͊͂̕͘͠

Re: [Day 29]
[The constriction helps, but not immediately; Dan Feng tries to sit up and does a good impression of a drunken toddler.]
'm fine. Not the worst. [Petulantly:] I taste better.
Re: [Day 29]
First. We are not ever, EVER comparing tastes.
Second. I don't want to know what the worst is.
Third. We're going to a healer. Tinea okay?
Re: [Day 29]
[He pets blindly down Sett's ruff, purring despite what just transpired between them.]
Oh, Sett. Were you really like this all along.
Re: [Day 29]
I told you somethin' happened.
Re: [Day 29]
It's fine if you confess. [How a guy on the verge of shock manages to croon is a mystery.] It's just us.
Re: [Day 29]
You've seen my memories. I aint good.
But I aint THIS.
Not even remotely sorry to disappoint.

Nothing?
Re: [Day 29]
I got messed up by some weird deer lady and I hurt him.
... He needs help. I can't pay right now, but I'll bring it soon.
[Sett's ALSO injured, but kind of NOT ON THE SAME PRIORITY AS THE DEFLATING LIZARD]

Keep him warm... he aint good with t'cold.

[ but back to dan feng. ] I'm aware of his distaste of the cold. I will take care of things, but first. [ the truth. ]

...it's not Sett's fault. I offered.
